Guess who's getting season one of THE TICK in the mail from Netflix today? Guess who's watching it all in one sitting (well, he may pause to make blueberry margaritas)? Guess who may do a second run through even if it takes all night?

Quarterly reporting starts tomorrow. Woo. Meeting to discuss division of labor tomorrow first thing.

So one of my coworkers needed access to a certain system and the process with the sending of forms etc was not quite working right, so the team had the idea of going directly to the desk of the guy in charge of that.

And dial 9 before the number.

I use the fax, like, 3 times a year, and 2 of those times it's for personal reasons rather than business reasons, so I always forget one of those steps.

Somebody responded with a note saying they want a transcript from my university. WTF? A transcript? Who the hell asks for a transcript? So I thought, you know what, fine. I'll arrange it. Still waiting for an acknowledgment of my faxed signature to the transcript company to release my records. The people who sent the response, they're a fine company in a fine town, so I might as well jump through a hoop here. I set up to get free transcripts for life after one flat fee, since it might come in handy three more times in my life, so why not.

Are there any utilities packaged with Windows to do efficient batch renaming? Just simple stuff like removing caps and maybe replacing bad characters in filenames (ie, spaces replaced with _ or something). Or even just the first.

I'm in a situation similar to a recent diary, where the user did not have the ability to install his own programs or whatever on his computer at work but still had to, like, actually get work done occasionally.

So last night I went to Bar Louie for their $2 burger nights and then went home and watched a couple episodes of Animaniacs. Not bad. They make you buy a drink to get the burger for that price, but $5 for a 1/2# angus beef burger and a beer is pretty doable. A little bit more if you want condiments. I split the burger with someone.

I should just quit my job and go back to school to become that. I miss Sanskrit. I'm going to go home tonight and break out my grammar and maybe some Mahaabhaarata or something. kaala(h) pacati sarvaan.i bhuutaani...

I wore a suit today because I have lunch with $CHIEF_SUCH_AND_SUCH_OFFICER and because I sometimes like to feel pretty. Honestly, it's no more or less comfortable than what I always wear to work, the only difference is that now I have a tie to worry about getting into soup.

Incidentally, I tied it in a Pratt knot. I feel degenerate.

For my own safety and yours. Instead, I played some chess. Not really so much playing as going over annotated games and then lying in bed with Polgar's brick until I fell asleep. Today was a basic day, it was some Chernev collection for patzers and the mates-in-one. Gotta drill the basics sometimes.

I did poorly on my chess tactics quiz last night. I took another and did worse. So I took a step back and ran through a large amount of easier problems and did decent. I think I should take a day off today. But it's a travel day. Frig, what am I supposed to do in the car if not play chess? Actually, I'm tired of tactical puzzles, perhaps I should have grabbed Ray Cheng's problem book instead.
